President
Ricardo Barbosa Jr is pursuing his MA in Geography at the University of Calgary with a focus on urban food activism in Calgary analyzed through the food sovereignty lens. Having researched rural social movements in the Global South, he is interested in understanding the forms food sovereignty takes in urban centers of the Global North. He holds an undergraduate degree from the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil) in International Relations.

Susann Lagore
Vice-president, Finance
Susann is a PhD student in the faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. Her area of research deals with transit access for individuals with autism. Susann has a doctorate in naturopathic medicine, a masters in planning and a bachelor of science. She loves horses and historical fiction. Susann has been a member of TURN for three years.

Hannah Allawi
Vice-president, Events
Hannah Allawi is an Architect, Urban Designer & Researcher currently pursuing her PhD in Environmental Design/Sustainable Urban Planning at the University of Calgary focusing on cities of the Gulf Cooperation Council, primarily Abu Dhabi. She has interned with Amin Taha Architects in London, UK and Atelier Hitoshi Abe in Sendai, Japan and has recently practiced with the firm, Building Design Partnership in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Hannah holds a NAAB accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree with minors in Design Management and Urban Design from the American University of Sharjah, UAE and a Master of Science in Architecture & Urban Design from Columbia University, USA.

Yawei Zhao
Vice-president, Membership + Communications
Yawei Zhao is pursuing her PhD in human geography at the University of Calgary. She is interested in urban mobilities, translocalities, and informal economy with a particular focus on young adults. Her PhD research project examines the migration decisions and daily activities of young migrants in a small city in southwest China. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the City University of Hong Kong in Environmental Policy Studies and a master’s degree from the McGill University in Human Geography.
